Update: this update is to those people that have inquired if this site is still operational. Yes the campaign still continues and is working in the background to bring about change. Change can be a slow process. When this campaign started I personally was experiencing up to 3 "no show" buses in a week. I haven't experienced one now for over 9 months! That to me shows progress. I want to thank those of you who are still interested in the campaign and for your support.

I currently live in Port Coquitlam and take the West Coast Express to work everyday. That is great transit.
I am considering a move to White Rock however the commute prospects quite frankly scare me.
Can you answer a few questions?
1) How long is the commute from the White Rock Transit Station to Downtown Vancouver (I work at Seymour and Hastings)
2) How crowded is the bus
3) Is it a standard city transit bus or something a little more comfortable where perhaps you can at least read of get some work done
4) What are the prospects of an express bus (just a few stops then straight through to shorten the trip)
Hello,
I have not experienced the commute from Port Coquitlam but from what I hear it runs smoothly. If you do make the move to White Rock, time will tell if you find the commute as smooth. 1) The commute from White Rock to downtown Vancouver is anywhere from an hour to an hour and 20minutes. I have experienced a commute as long as two and a half hours but that was due to an accident in the tunnel and a severe snow storm where cars were in the ditches. 2)The bus is usually standing room only when I go in but I commute off rush hour when their is only the 351 in operation. If you are part of the peak times then you can choose between the 351 and the 354 which both take you downtown. 3)The buses they use are coach buses with padded seats, air conditioning etc. very comfortable. Many commuters work on their labtops during the trip. I have had to ride a few times in a standard city transit but that is rare at least in my case and was usually the result of a bus breakdown and that is all transit had available. 4)Currently the 351 and 354 are considered to be express buses at least once you leave the "South Surrey Park and Ride." In White Rock they still use the commuter bus to pick up and drop off within the town limits but once you hit the highway and into Vancouver, it is for the most part a drop off only going in. It would improve the situation out here if the used the small shuttles for in town use and just used the commuter buses as just that commuter buses but perhaps in time.
Hopefully this info is of help to you.
